Christmas

So, our kids were supposed to get sleds for Christmas. Casey was sooo excited. He wasn't supposed to be home for Christmas, so before he left for work Casey made a super cool ramp off our front porch. Well, he got to be home but he could not wait for Christmas to show the kids the ramp. So, they got their sleds on Christmas Eve morning. And they had a fantastic time sledding. Logan was too small to stay upright so, he ended up on his back everytime. Kati had a great time and always wanted to go faster!!! Even Casey got in on the fun. It was so much fun. We had a fantastic Christmas this year! Casey got to be home, which was a fun surprise, and we had a relaxing day. We have traveled for Christmas the last few years so it was really nice just to be home and comfy. Kati and Logan woke up at 7 am and watched cartoons for an hour. Then we opened presents and had french toast for breakfast. Then the kids played while Casey and I relaxed a bit. Then we went to Casey's Mom's for a while and then Liz and Dave came over to our house and we had dinner and played games til late. And Casey added a new taller ramp to our sledding set up, so Brayden and Braxton were out front all day. It was a really fun, stress free Christmas.

Yippee!!!

Casey just found out he will be home for Christmas day! He wasn't going to be able to get it off, but his boss canceled the run for that day because there wouldn't be a trailer to take back anyway! I am so excited! So, when he gets home tomorrow morning he won't have to work until Saturday night! Yay vacation!

What my Christmas letter would have said...

Our family has had a busy year! We moved into our house in Roy, Utah and I absolutely love it here! We adopted a new puppy. Her name is Molly and she is a 6 month old Lab. She has had a bit of a rough start, but is learning fast. Mocha is doing well and is enjoying having another puppy to play with.
Logan has grown up so much this year! It amazes me the difference between 2 and 3 years old. He absolutely loves playdoh and baseball, and football. He is a boy all the way through and I am frequently reminding him not to hit people with this or that. He's such a cute little boy, though if you ask him he says "I am a man!"
Kati is in preschool and loving every minute of it! She is starting to read and enjoys spelling new words. She loves books and barbie dolls, and fairies. She is all girl and is always asking to wear her makeup. She loves taking pictures in my studio and dancing around to music. She is super excited for her baby sister to come and keeps coming up with names for her. Her favorite at the moment is "Cutie".
Casey is still working at BECO, driving to Denver 3 or 4 times a week. He enjoys playing his guitar and has recently taken up the djembe drum. He's getting pretty good. He also loves poker and is learning tricks with the poker chips. Some of them are pretty impressive. He loves his kids and spends as much time with them as he can, even if it means missing a day of sleep to go with Kati on her field trip. He's amazing.
I have been busy with school and am learning a ton! I really enjoy the challenge photography presents. I love watching my kids grow up. They amaze me. I am kind of freaking out thinking of Kati going to Kindergarten in the fall. She can't be 5 already? I am excited for the new baby to come. We haven't come up with her name yet, but I am sure we'll think of something. We still have three months, right? Logan just melts my heart even when he's being naughty. He's so funny, I just can't be mad at him. I'm in trouble with that one.
We hope this Christmas is full of joy and wonder and that your New Year brings you peace and prosperity.
From our family to yours, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Ahhh... the Holidays.

Thanksgiving was sooo fun. Best year yet, I would say. The only down side is that when you're away from home for Turkey Day you don't get any of the leftovers. But the day was fantastic! And the Friday after was so much fun! My Mom and sisters and I went to breakfast with my Aunt and some cousins. Then we did a little shopping, and then we caught the twilight movie in the afternoon. (Love it!!!) and then we shopped a little more. My amazing brother Scott kept my kids all day so my hubby could sleep (he works nights), and I got the whole day off with no worries about babysitters, or calling to check in. I needed that day off so much. It was so refreshing to just do whatever I wanted. Everyone is over the flu finally (yay!!!), and I am almost done with Christmas shopping(yay!!!). We lost the christmas bucket with the tree and ornaments and all the sentimental parts of christmas, so I am sad about that, but I went today and bought a cheap tree and cheap plastic ornaments because I can't go without a tree one more day, but I am sure as soon as we get it set up we will find the bucket with all the good stuff in it, so I couldn't go too pricey. What do you do? I love Christmas time. Casey is going to be away for work alot this month and on Christmas day(bummer!), so I have been trying to get an early start with our traditions so Casey will get to be around for some of them. So, last night we were supposed to watch Frosty the Snowman on TV, but we couldn't get the channel, so Casey took Kati to the movie store to rent it, but they didn't have it, so Kati picked Barbie's Christmas Carol. So we watched that instead. It was so fun. After the movie we drank some cocoa and ate treats while we helped Dad get ready for work. Casey will be home for three days after this run! I am super excited!!! Time to hang lights!

Correction...

I went for another ultrasound this week and surprise... it's a girl! I can't believe it! So, now we have no idea what we are going to name this child and also no idea how we are going to fit a crib in Kati's room. (Logan's room was already prepared for this.) But Kati is super excited. She wanted a sister. She loves to tell people "The doctor was wrong and I was right."

Snow Pets

We took some time to enjoy our short term snow while Casey was home. The kids had a great time sticking the faces into the snow and were so proud of Dad when he made the "huge" snow man. They only lasted a day or two, but our snow pets were sure a fun time to make.
Logan with his snow puppy. He put the eyes on himself. Kati loved the snow piggy because of the curly tail.

Friendly Advice

I would love some input on my photography blog. First impressions, advice for improvements, would you hire me based on what you see? So anyone who has an extra minute, go to www.tracyporterphotography.blogspot.com and leave me some comments here. Thanks.

It's a Boy!!!

We are happy to announce that we will be adding a baby boy to our family around April 1st! We are super excited and even Kati has come around, and is excited that it's a brother.

Early snow

It snowed three inches last night. I was very surprised to see it still on the ground this morning, but the kids were so excited. They've been itching to wear their new snow bibs.

Our new house

We finally moved in to our house! I love it. It's a 1970 cute old house on a corner lot, which makes the yard a bit awkward, but it's great anyway. The neighborhood is cute and quiet, and friendly. This is Casey's pool room. It's the first place he takes people when they come over. Even though it's in the basement and you have to walk through the rest of the house to get there. This is my living room, first room when you walk through the door. I love the fire place.

Kati learns about Larva

At preschool Kati learned about the life stages of butterflies. She even says Crysalys (cacoon). I was amazed. And they did this super cute activity with pasta. They used rice for the larva stage, rotini for the caterpillar, shell pasta for the cacoon, and bowtie for the butterfly. CUTE.

Drama

So Kati comes running in the house..." Mom Logi is really hurt! Come see." So, I run outside to see what's wrong. And to my great surprise Logan is standing in the middle of the grass, throwing tables and chairs as hard as he can (the kid sized ones, of course.) in the most dramatic tantrum I have ever seen. His face is all red, there are tears streaming down his cheeks and he is yelling something very angry in his caveman language. And Kati says "See Mom. He's hurt really bad!". He looked fit as a fiddle to me. I was laughing so hard.

Kati goes to preschool

Kati has been so excited to start preschool and today was the day. I dropped her off and she was so excited to get out of the car that she had to come back for her backpack. When I picked her up she stayed right in line until it was her turn and she was practically shouting when she told me about her day. She got to chase gingerbread men that had hopped out of the oven and stolen all the M&M's and stuck them all over themselves. ("They are very rude gingerbread men, Mom.") It was a very exciting chase and in the end, Kati caught two of them. ("And we ate them mom, and they didn't even know!") What a fun day. Tomorrow each kid gets to bring one apple and they are going to make applesauce.

Hunting party

Casey loves to hunt doves and pheasants, so with the opening of dove season on Monday we were hard pressed to find any time with Daddy. Well, If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Logan got to enjoy his first dove hunting trip. He was so proud of his daddy. "My Dad shoot one bird!!!" he would say in his Logan caveman speak. (They actually got nine birds) So, we're having dove for dinner. Yay...
Logan and cousin Ben waiting to go down the river at Lava Hot Springs. Logan loved the river.
Kati caught her first fish at Woods Ranch in July this year.
Dad and Kati getting splashed by uncle Myron. I took this picture from on top of a very high cliff!
This is us hanging out at Lyman Lake in July. The storm behind us dropped more rain than I have ever seen! It rained for three hours straight. I was so glad to have our tent trailer.

Summer camping!

This summer has been super busy! Between house hunting (unsuccessful) and camping trips (2 and 1/2 weeks worth) I haven't been able to post, but life is settling down. Kati starts preschool next week, and is sooo excited. Casey is looking for a new job, and suffering through his current one. Hopefully that situation will resolve soon. We are still looking for a house, but prospects are slim, and the process is time consuming. Wish us luck on that front! But on a happier note, Logan is finally talking enough that people can understand him, and I am loving that! I'll post pictures soon.

Kati's Zoo Party

Zoo Party

Kati took a few of her cousins to the zoo for her birthday party. We had a great time. It couldn't have gone better. We got to see all the animals, ride the carousel and the train, and play in a cool playground. It was super fun.

Fiesta

We had a fiesta with my family. We had yummy food, and did a pinata. Aiden broke it open with one strong swing.
Sharing the loot.

Kati ate alot of candy, and ended up with a very green tongue.

Kati's Birthday

Kati turned 4 on Sunday. I can't believe she's getting so big!!! We were in Vegas visiting my mom. To celebrate, we had cake with some of Kati's cousins. Kati helped me make the cake, and then she decorated it. It turned out really cute. Lots of sprinkles!!!
Happy Birthday Kati!!!!
Aiden, Treston and Logan helped Kati lick the frosting off the candles. So much fun.

Vegas Vacation

We had a fabulous time visiting family in Vegas last week. We enjoyed the hot weather, and playing in the water. We all had a great time at the water park with cousins.
Well... almost all of us.
Logan had a blast with uncle Josh. Balloons are his favorite thing.

Adjusting

Hey all, it's been a while! We are all moved in up north, and adjusting to life here. The kids love it here. We are going camping this weekend, and Kati is getting really good at casting her fishin' pole. Logan is a T ball champ (in our backyard). I have done a few photography jobs, and am learning so much! Casey is adjusting to sleeping at night, and has really gotten into the Harry Potter audio books during his drives. He keeps telling me " Do you know how much better the book is than the movie?" I laugh because I have told him that all along. It's been fun talking about books with him. Mocha loves it here. She is getting more adventurous every day! The kids keep letting her out of the yard, but she has learned to go to Uncle Russell's house, so it makes the job of finding her much easier. Casey and Russell (his Brother) take Mocha rollerblading with them because she is so strong. They love the thrill of getting pulled along so fast. Kati starts preschool in the fall, and is trying to convince me to sign her up for dance too. She has grown up so much, I can't believe she's going to be 4 next week! Logan is starting to talk more everyday. He puts two words together now. It's been fun to watch him figure out new words, and pretend with Kati. He is so expressive. He is still shy and has the best mad face whenever anyone new comes around. He makes me laugh everyday. He argues with me now almost as much as Kati does. We are having a great time getting to know new cousins, and are excited to see all our cousins in Vegas next week. We can't wait!

We are moving!!!

Casey got an amazing job in Ogden Utah so we will be packing up and heading north. We are excited to live closer to Casey's family and Liz, but we will be sad to leave my family and this great warm weather. Wish us luck!!!

Death Valley

Doesn't that sound like the perfect place to take a family trip! :) Kati didn't think so. But we went hiking there with Gpa n Gma Rhees & Uncs Ad and Josh. We went on a few hikes, got to see some itty bitty fish that live in a salt water spring there and some amazing views, and Katis favorite part was the real life castle!!! We even got to go inside! Which Kati found out was not so fun, because you can't touch anything. All in all it was an amazing day in the desert.

New Blog

Everyone should check out my photography blog! The link is at the bottom of the page! Let me know what you think!!!

Enjoying our prespring warmth

Kati is obsessed with the tulips in our backyard. She is always looking at them and smelling them.
Logan is afootball freak!!! Look how concentrated he is!

Logans Birthday.

We went out to Redstone (a climbing spot out by Lakemead) for the day. It was really fun. Aunt Amanda and Uncle Ryan, James, Carter, Rebecca, Eliza, Grandma and Grandpa Rhees and Uncle Adam all came with us. We had lunch out there. Kaitlyn ended the day early when she dislocated her elbow. Logan went home with grandma and had a nap, while Casey and I took Kati to the hospital. We are just thankful it wasn't broken!!!

Happy Birthday to Logan!!! Cake with cousins at Grandma Rhees' house.
Enjoying his new golf clubs.
